Immediate Opportunities
Grants Assistant (Assisting the Development Director)
TAP is seeking someone to support our Development Director in researching and identifying potential grant opportunities and assisting in completing submission application packages. Ideally, they would have previous experience in grants management and philanthropy processes, be an analytical thinker, and a problem-solver who believes in TAPs overall mission and continued success. If you are interested in this role, please email Maureen Dawson, Development Director at development@thearlingtonplayers.org.
Box Office Manager (Assisting the Audience Relations Director)
Do you love that rush of excitement when you step inside the theater lobby before a show? Are you gifted in managing people or processes? This might be the job for you! We're seeking a box office manager. The ideal candidate would support us at the theater four or five nights during a show run, providing a welcoming and smooth check-in process for our audience. This position works with our Director of Audience Relations to train new box office personnel, decorate the lobby display, and help manage the box office and our usher volunteers during the run of the show. If you are interested in this role, please email Aimee Dastin, our Director of Audience Relations at audiencerelations@thearlingtonplayers.org.
Marketing Assistant / Social Media Manager
Are you the creative type who stays current on all the latest social media trends? Do you love brainstorming posts, reels, and other fun ways to engage followers? Or, perhaps you're a wordsmith who loves to craft and fine-tune verbiage with your red editor's pen? TAP is expanding our marketing outreach, and we're seeking volunteers with outstanding communication skills and creativity. Ideal candidates should have a strong interest (or background) in marketing, writing, editing, sales, and/or social media. Bonus points if you have experience in web design, graphic design, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or InDesign! If you are interested in joining our marketing team, please email Mikel Gajkowski, our Director of Marketing at marketing@thearlingtonplayers.org.
Additional Opportunities
Production Team Members & Shadows
Without a production team, TAP can't bring you performances! They bring and execute the creative vision for each of our shows. Teams are comprised of: directors, producers, stage managers, and designers of things like sets, costumes, hair/makeup, sound, and lighting. Musicals also require orchestra members. These necessary volunteer positions can be very rewarding, but also are quite a commitment - so we encourage you to read about these roles and their time commitments. TAP is often able to allow you to "shadow" a current area leader to learn the ropes.
Time commitment: These positions are major time commitments, but do vary by role. Be sure to read the detailed descriptions for specific role commitments.

Stage Crew
The magic of live stage performance needs backstage helping hands! The stage crew does a variety of work including moving set pieces between scenes, setting props, creating special effects, running the fly rail, and more. Ideally, a stage manager has a consistent crew, functioning as a single, cohesive team for the entire run of the performance, but limited schedules can often be accommodated.
Time commitment: Ideally crew members volunteer for the full run of the show - tech and dress rehearsals ahead of opening and eight performances over three weekends. Lesser commitments may be able to be accommodated.

Ushers
A well-kept secret, these are the perfect volunteer roles for individuals with limited availability. And yet, these positions are so important - they're often the first interaction our patrons have with the production!
Ushers are a crucial part of TAP's guest relations, so when you volunteer to be an usher, please be sure to pack your smile! Tasks include: stuffing programs, checking patron tickets, assisting patrons to their assigned seats, working concessions during intermission, and picking up litter after the show.
Time commitment: Usher positions start about 45 minutes ahead of the performance start and end about 30 minutes after the performance finishes. They can be done one time or for multiple shows, and volunteers in these positions can see the show.
Interested in helping out? Sign up to receive emails about these opportunities. They're opened approximately 3 weeks ahead of a show opening. Have questions? Send us an email audiencerelations@thearlingtonplayers.org.
Box Office
Each TAP performance needs two box office attendants to help sell tickets, set-up concessions, hand out will-call tickets, and manage the front-of-house (the lobby). Tickets are managed and sold through ArtsPeople software - don't worry, we'll train you, and someone will be on hand if questions arise during your shift.
Time commitment: One to eight performances, depending on your interest and schedule! Please note, all box office attendants are required to attend a training session to learn ArtsPeople ahead of volunteering. Box office attendants arrive at the theater an hour ahead of show curtain and stay through the full show in case any issues arise.
